Trip Highlight - Reverse Traverse

Spend a weekend in God’s creation and experience all the Gauley River has to offer! Maximize your whitewater experience with the Reverse Traverse. Your first day, you’ll get a taste of the beauty and excitement of the Gauley by rafting 12 miles on the Lower Gauley River (Class I-V). Get a good night’s sleep, because the next day, you’ll be back out on the even bigger Upper Gauley! Your second day of rafting will include a full 14 miles of high-adrenaline whitewater, with the “Big 5” Class V+ Rapids.

On selected dates in the fall, guaranteed ideal water flows are released from Summersville Dam in southern West Virginia, thus providing “Gauley Season” during weekends every September and October.

Each trip on the Gauley includes amazing whitewater, stunning views, a picnic lunch, and a guided reflection on God’s Word.

  • Extreme whitewater! Fourteen miles of excitement! Includes numerous class III – V rapids and the “Big 5” Class V+ rapids. Not for the faint of heart. Previous rafting experience highly recommended.

  • Enjoy the entire Gauley over a two-day period. Raft the Lower Gauley on Friday and the Upper Gauley on Saturday.

  • Previous rafting experience strongly recommended. Extreme whitewater! Fourteen miles of excitement twice in one day!

  • Gauley Marathon Rating: Class I – V+ Ages: 16 +
