Dave graduated from Tennessee Temple University in 1981 with a Degree in Administrative Management.
Dave has over 24 years of camp management experience, serving at Alpine since 2002. Dave is a husband and
father of 5 children. One of the most rewarding aspects of
camp for Dave is seeing young lives changed and counselors mature in their faith and relationship to
the Lord. Dave enjoys skiing, scuba diving, hunting and spending time with family and friends.

Ruth Knicely: Director of Alpine Retreats
At the age of 12, while attending a church camp, Ruth dedicated her life to serving the Lord. But it wasn’t
until college that she developed an interest in -- and eventual love for -- camp ministry. Ruth began her
service at Alpine during her college years, serving as a summer camp counselor. Since 1982 she has served
in a variety of capacities, from dining room hostess to equipment truck driver --
and nearly everything in between. She has served as the Director of Retreats since 2003.
Ruth is a 1986 graduate of Appalachian Bible College. Ruth is pictured with her friend and future replacement, Anna.

with his wife, Jeanne, and their 3 daughters, live on a small hobby farm just 1 mile from Alpine.
The whole family enjoys camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, farming and participating in adventure activities
in the outdoors. They consider themselves extremely blessed to be able to use their passion for the
outdoors to serve their greater passion, their LORD! Steve served 21 years in the US Army and Army Guard,
and is also an ordained minister of the Gospel. Steve & Jeanne met, and married, in 1991 in Alaska, where
they were living until relocating to ABC to prepare for vocational ministry in 2002. Steve has been serving
with Alpine Adventures since 2006.
Tim Barton: Co-Director of Alpine Adventures/ River Manager

over 25 years experience in guiding and throughout his career he has trained approximately 200 guides. One of
the greatest blessings in his ministry is how God has allowed his family to be involved. His wife Renee has
been a help to him and to Alpine in many ways. Tim & Renee have 3 children Jimmy, Carissa and Micah. They
all have been a help as trip leaders, guides and facilitators in all activities. Tim enjoys seeing guides
develop in leadership skills and mature both physically and spiritually. He also enjoys seeing the same youth
pastors and group leaders bring different young people year after year challenging them to grow in Christ.

Emily Dunkerton: Alpine Outdoor Education Director
Emily is a 2007 graduate of Appalachian Bible College with a B.A. in Bible/Theology and Camp Ministry.
She loves serving at Alpine because of the many opportunities to guide others to God’s Word through
challenging outdoor experiences. As a bonus, her office is at times underground in a cave, dangling
in the air from the high ropes course, on the edge of a cliff, or in a boat shooting whitewater rapids!
Emily is passionate about God’s creation and enjoys backpacking, rock climbing, eating wild plants, and
making just about any animal into a pet.
Life Verses: Isaiah 41:9-10.
