Enjoy the breath-taking scenery of the New River Gorge. Known as the "Grand Canyon of the East," the New River offers some of the best whitewater in the nation. Trips: April – Oct. Express Trips: April – May & Sept. – Oct. (An express trip is a half-day trip that does not include lunch or "play-time" on the river.)
Lower NewRating: Class I - VAges: 13 + One of the most popular whitewater trips in the country, the Lower New River is enjoyed by first timers and those more experienced. Upper NewRating: Class I - IIIAges: 8 + Duckies Ages: 12 + Leisurely paddle along God’s scenic river. This is a great trip for those wanting a mild adventure. Want more adventure? The Gauley River
This river is ranked among the top ten best whitewater rivers in the world! On selected dates in the fall, guaranteed ideal water flows are released from Summersville Dam, thus providing "Gauley Season."
Lower GauleyRating: Class I - VAges: 14 + Comparable to the Lower New River, this is BIG water adventure. The Lower Gauley has unique beauty and heart-pounding excitement! Thirteen miles with several class IV & V rapids. Cost: Monday/Friday $79 Saturday $93 |

Prices include equipment, transportation, and lunch during the trip. (No lunch on express trips.) Each guest must submit a Release and Assumption of Risk Form before going on an activity. Spring trips during the months of April and May usually run during high water times. Extremely high water levels may result in changing to a different river section. Wetsuits are recommended for spring and fall rafting trips.
Note: A limited number of wetsuits and splash jackets are available for rent – wetsuit: $10 / splash jacket: $3
You Should Know
Participation in whitewater rafting and other adventure activities is physically challenging and involves inherent risks. Participants must accept responsibility for these inherent risks and agree to sign a liability waiver prior to participation. All persons under the age of 18 must have their Release Forms signed by their parent or court-appointed guardian. Alpine Ministries reserves the right to refuse anyone.
Trips are done rain or shine. Alpine reserves the right to change any trip, raft size, or number of guests per raft due to weather, water conditions or the physical condition of participants.
